Description
USS Spruance (DD 963) was a Spruance-class destroyer built by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Commissioned in 1975, it served in the U.S. Navy until decommissioned in 2005. Named in honor of Admiral Raymond Ames Spruance, the ship’s motto was Wisdom, Fortitude, Reason. After its service, it was sunk as a target in 2006. USS Spruance was a vital part of the fleet, providing defense and support during its active years.
