USS Hyman G. Rickover (SSN 709) was a Los Angeles-class attack submarine, commissioned in 1984 and decommissioned in 2006. Built by General Dynamics Electric Boat, it was named after Admiral Hyman G. Rickover, the "Father of the Nuclear Navy." This nuclear-powered submarine served with distinction, embodying its motto, "Committed to Excellence." After its decommissioning, the USS Rickover was sent for submarine recycling.
