USS Shreveport (LPD 12) was an Austin-class amphibious transport dock built by Lockheed Shipbuilding & Construction. Commissioned in 1970, it served the U.S. Navy for decades, providing amphibious assault support. The ship was decommissioned in 2007 and laid up at NAVSEA's Inactive Ships Maintenance Facility in Philadelphia. Named in honor of Shreveport, Louisiana, its motto was "No Shore Too Distant," reflecting its versatile operational capabilities in challenging environments.
