USS Montgomery (LCS 8) is an Independence-class Littoral Combat Ship built by Austal-USA in Mobile, Alabama. Commissioned on September 10, 2016, it serves in the U.S. Navy from its homeport in San Diego, California. Named after Montgomery, Alabama, the ship upholds its motto "Ademus Jura Nostra Defendere" (We Dare Defend Our Rights). Designed for rapid response, it is equipped for a variety of missions in littoral waters.
