Description
USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) was a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser built by Ingalls Shipbuilding. Commissioned on February 21, 1987, and decommissioned on August 10, 2023, it served with distinction in the U.S. Navy. Named for the Naval Battle of Mobile Bay during the Civil War, its motto was "Full Speed Ahead." The ship's legacy continues, as it is now laid up at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility.
