Description
USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) was a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, built by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Commissioned in 1993, it served the U.S. Navy until its decommissioning in 2022. Named after the Battle of Vella Gulf during World War II, the cruiser was known for its swift strikes and formidable presence. Following its decommissioning, USS Vella Gulf was laid up at the Naval Inactive Ship Maintenance Facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
