Honor the USS Belleau Wood LHA 3, a Tarawa-class amphibious assault ship built by Ingalls Shipbuilding. Awarded on November 15, 1969, laid down on March 5, 1973, and commissioned on September 23, 1978, the USS Belleau Wood was decommissioned on October 28, 2005. Named after the Battle of Belleau Wood in WWI, it was sunk as a target during RIMPAC 2006. The ship's legacy lives on in its heroic service.
