The USS New York City (SSN 696) was a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, built by General Dynamics Electric Boat. Commissioned in 1979 and decommissioned in 1997, the submarine played a key role in U.S. Navy operations. Named after the city of New York, it was designed for deep-water attack missions and intelligence gathering. After its decommissioning, the USS New York City was sent for submarine recycling, marking the end of its distinguished service.
