USS La Salle (LPD 3), originally an Amphibious Transport Dock, was later reclassified as a Miscellaneous Command Ship (AGF-3) after conversion in 1972. Built at the New York Naval Shipyard, it served in various capacities, including providing command support at sea. Decommissioned in 2005, it was sunk as a target in 2007. Named after La Salle County, Illinois, USS La Salle demonstrated exceptional versatility at sea.
