USS Houston (SSN 713) was a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered attack submarine, commissioned in 1982. Built by Newport News Shipbuilding, it served the U.S. Navy for over three decades before being decommissioned in 2016. Homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, the submarine was named after the city of Houston, Texas. Its motto, "Semper Vigilans" (Always Vigilant), reflected its commitment to constant readiness.
