Description
USS Vincennes (CG 49) was a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, built by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Commissioned in 1985 and decommissioned in 2005, it was named after the Battle of Vincennes during the Revolutionary War. The ship played a key role in missile defense before being sold for scrap in 2011. Homeported at various locations, its motto, Freedom's Fortress, reflected its dedication to defending U.S. interests.
