The B-17G “Sentimental Journey” was built in 1944 by Douglas Aircraft and assigned to the U.S. Army Air Forces for service in World War II. After the war, she served with the Strategic Air Command and later flew as a photo-mapping and rescue aircraft. Restored by the Commemorative Air Force in the 1970s, she became one of the most recognizable Flying Fortresses on the airshow circuit. With her iconic pin-up nose art inspired by Betty Grable, “Sentimental Journey” continues to honor the bravery and nostalgia of the airmen who flew her generation.
